Now that the 3 biggest players on the market (CP3 thinks LBJ wants to play for LA instead of Houston, being a close friend of LBJ and a smart guy, he should know what LBJ is thinking?) seem to all prefer to play in LA, what can the Lakers do? One problem is that they are all essentially SF (though PG has played PF in previous seasons, he had said that he didn't like to play PF), however, I think that problem can be resolved. LBJ/PG are free agents and won't cost the Lakers anything, but Kawhi needs a trade and the Lakers, in order to free up enough salary spaces for all 3, have to trade away some of the players (they don't have to pay repeater tax yet). They might play some tricks to Luol Deng's $16M salary (holes in NBA rules) to stretch/reduce its loading to $3~4M like some people suggested. They want to re-sign Randle. So all in all, I think signing all big 3 is doable, but how to play them effectively may take some more effort.... |
